Space Electronic System Engineer

Main tasks and responsabilities:

  • Lead the design and development of radar systems for space applications, including system architecture, hardware, and firmware software components;
  • Conduct trade-off studies to evaluate different design options and optimize system performance;
  • Oversee the integration of radar systems with spacecraft, ensuring compatibility with other subsystems;
  • Develop and execute test plans for laboratory, ground, and space-based testing;
  • Analyze test data to validate system performance and identify areas for improvement;
  • Oversee and support units qualifications according to the most relevant applicable space standards;
  • Stay current with advancements in radar technology and space systems;
  • Propose and pursue innovative solutions to enhance the performance and capabilities of radar systems;
  • Contribute to the development of new products and services in the radar and space domain.

Specific Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of radar and telecom hardware components, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and digital signal processors;
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) and CAD software;
  • ESA ECSS and/or MIL standards knowledge;
  • Familiarity with space environment constraints and requirements;
  • Proficiency in radar signal processing and algorithm development.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Communication Engineering, Physics, or a related field (PhD preferred);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in radar system design and development, preferably for space applications;
  • Experience with radar signal processing, RF and microwave engineering, and system integration for space; Proven track record of leading engineering projects from concept to deployment.
