Job description
You will be assigned as an Operational and FDIR Engineer to provide engineering support for Flight Operations procedure development and validation. In addition you will perform FDIR validation for a major unique ESA space science mission. Main activities would be focused to:
- Support Operational toolbox development;
- Participate to the Spacecraft User’s Manual elaboration;
- Define and validate of Operational Procedures;
- Participate to the definition, implementation and validation of FDIR.
Responsibilities
The work includes the following tasks in coordination with the customer’s Operational Manager:
- Management of the satellite FOP/FOM development and validation in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements:
- FOP code and documentation;
- FOP test plan (one version for each batch);
- FOP test sequences;
- FOP test log and test results (one version for each batch);
- The FOP coding rules;
- The FOP converter to produce documentation and FOP in ESOC format.
- Development and validation of the Common and Satellite FOPs;
- Track anomalies detected during validation, correct the procedures accordingly and retest them on SIMAIT;
- Interface with the Avionics team: consolidation of the avionics procedures and deliveries;
- Interface with the Functional Validation architect: contribution to the Satellite Reference Data Base validation;
- Configuration management and delivery of procedures versions to the users (CSW, FV team, AIT) according to schedule requirements, including documentation and interfaces with users;
- Post-delivery support to users: for CSW production, during AIT, EM, and PFM phases, then during SSVTs;
- Procedure modifications: user input consolidation, modification verification, modification traceability and deployment versus user needs, DCR process management;
- Participation in OPS technical meetings, users meetings and reviews on request;
- Handover to customer team for further procedures maintenance;
- Contribute to the elaboration of the Spacecraft User’s Manual.
These is a full time position, located at our customer site in Toulouse, France.
Start date of the project is foreseen in January 2025.

How to succeed in this position?
We are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience in the space industry.
The successful candidate shall have:
- Master degree or equivalent qualification in Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline;
- Technical competences:
- Solid knowledge of satellite architecture, systems and equipment;
- Solid knowledge of command/control of satellites and data processing;
- Good Knowledge of functional validation;
- Understanding/knowledge of requirements engineering;
- Valuable experience in space operations;
- Datacentres & Networking;
- Understanding of IT infrastructure management;
- State-of-the-art knowledge in area of IT Infrastructure and software development and related IT trends in industry;
- Knowledge and understanding of cyber security matters.
Desirable:
- Experience and understanding of the following currently used technologies and engineering practices will be considered an asset:
- Knowledge of MOIS (Manufacturing and Operations Information System);
- Knowledge of Central Checkout Systems.
Soft/general skills:
- An ability to work independently and to establish good working relations within the customer, ESA and industrial counterparts is essential;
- The holder must be flexible to adapt to the changes in priorities according to the project needs;
- The holder should be methodical, rigorous and well organized;
- Language to communicate, to read/write documents is English: a good level is required. The working environment is mainly French speaking, so French would be a real asset.
The candidate has to be willing to undertake from time to time business travel between customer sites.
Candidates must undergo a basic security screening during the application process (e.g. formal statement of good conduct, issued by an official government entity; reference persons) and security clearance to enter customer premises.
