Experimental Rocket Demonstrators System Coordinator Engineer

Job description

Reporting to our CT INGENIERIE PARIS entity, your mission will be to coordinate the system activities for the project demonstrators, focused on students and space transport, etc, from the customer’s project platform located at the heart of the Paris-Saclay innovation campus: you will be responsible for implementing the project roadmap in terms of System aspects, as well as leading, coordinating and steering the work of the students, providing them with technical support for System studies.

In parallel, you will also carry out some of these activities, under the supervision of the Project Manager and in collaboration with other support staff and customer experts, such as:

  • Mission analysis calculations for demonstrators (mission definition and requirements, trajectory calculations and optimization using various software packages; performance calculations, flight mechanics including transient phases of flight, general forces, aerodynamics, etc.);
  • Design and operation of mission simulation models; and;
  • Risk assessment, backup calculations;
  • Integration, operational and testing aspects…

On the technical side, three types of activities are to be carried out:

  • Coordination, support and management of all activities, according to the incremental, iterative and adaptive process defined for the project.
  • Synthesis at system and large demonstrators’ level, involving in particular the integration of all scientific and technological results from the launch systems pre-project,
  • Elementary demonstrators and technological research demonstrators.

In order to meet these various challenges, in collaboration with the students and in synergy with the project team, you will contribute through your work (studies, calculations, code and software development, etc, analysis and synthesis of work and results, etc.) to the studies, technological choices, designs, production, integration and testing of the various demonstrators.

Required profile

Do you enjoy managing, leading and passing on your knowledge?

You are not afraid to code, to switch from writing specifications to defining architecture or interfaces, from supervising students to scheduling operations, and finally to launching the rocket?

To do so, you’ll need experience that gives you a certain hindsight and a cross-functional vision, enabling you to draw up the roadmap leading to medium-term objectives, while planning in detail and taking forward the current stages of the demonstrators. The area of expertise to be deployed covers the following technical fields:

  • Demonstrator engineering;
  • Launcher Mission Analysis/Trajectory and performance calculations and optimization, Flight mechanics/dynamics including transient phases of flight, general force calculations, Aerodynamics; and;
  • Mechanics/CAD/Mechatronics/Rocket Design;
  • Programming codes and software development, numerical modelling and simulations; and;
  • Supervisory, leadership and communication skills.

Oral and written French is important for daily exchanges within the team and with students.

You have good knowledge and experience of the space transportation sector, and the desire to put your skills to good use.. Then come and discover our opportunities!

You have system and cross-functional skills, both technical and organizational, as well as management and communication skills; or at least a curiosity to take charge of these uncovered areas with support. These skills may be the result of training, professional or associative experience…
