Your Mission
As part of the Launch Vehicle Loads and Analysis team, you will be working on the thermal systems of the Spectrum launch vehicle. Covering system design; sources and model definition to conducting calculations and reporting. Your input and knowledge will be highly appreciated and directly drive flight hardware design iterations.
More specifically, you will:
- Design and analyze thermal systems (e.g. MLI, ventilation systems, heaters, …)
- Set up and own thermal models of the launcher, including:
- convection models for closed volumes and propellants
- radiative and conductive models for complex geometries
- Investigate critical scenarios during ground and flight operations
- Perform thermal coupled load analysis for the launch vehicle and payload as part of mission analysis
- Determine operating environments for components (e.g. Avionics) and vehicle structures
- Define thermal instrumentation for system testing and flight
Who you are and what you have
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in the field of Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanics or comparable
- At least 5 years of experience working on thermal systems
- Sound knowledge in thermal systems design and heat transfer mechanisms
- Experience with fluid dynamics and conjugate heat transfer
- Experience with thermal instrumentation and testing
- Experience with Matlab or Python and thermal software such as Ansys Thermal
- Ability to effectively collaborate in multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
- Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail
- Fluent in English
Nice to Have:
