System Architect

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage the CTAO system model;
  • Work with systems engineers, CTAO software and telescope teams, and other stakeholders to maintain and evolve the CTAO system architecture model using the CTAO instance of Sparx Enterprise Architect;
  • Document the system architecture and support the CTAO WP teams to document their subsystem architectures;
  • Produce static and behavioural descriptions of the CTA Observatory at system level via system block diagrams, activity diagrams, use cases, and other representations;
  • Support the CTAO change control process by assessing the impact of proposed changes that may affect the system model or architecture documentation and implementing any approved changes;
  • Work with the CTAO requirements engineer and other stakeholders to ensure that the requirements identified in the system model are captured in the system and subsystem requirements;
  • Work with systems engineers and other stakeholders to ensure that the identified system-level interfaces in the architecture are adequately documented through released interface control documents;
  • Support the integration validation and verification processes of the system and subsystems to ensure the coverage of all the applicable requirements;
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Lead Systems Engineer.

You will be reporting to: CTAO Lead Systems Engineer

Your qualifications and experience:

  • University degree or similar qualification in engineering, applied physics, systems engineering, or other relevant fields;
  • Certified training or demonstrable expertise in the application of model-based systems engineering, SysML or analogous modeling languages;
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working as a system architect or system modeler in a medium to large scale engineering project using a system modeling tool, ideally Enterprise Architect;
  • Experience defining the system architecture design of an international scientific construction project;
  • Familiarity with configuration/change control, quality assurance, project review, and acceptance processes;
  • The ability to work as an effective member of an international, multi-cultural and complex project team;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English, knowledge of German or Spanish will be an asset.
