IT Support Engineer

What you will be doing:

  • Performing daily system checks (identify and resolve any issues with local infrastructure and remote hardware)
  • Investigating reasons for service problems (e.g. connectivity issues, hardware faults).
  • Service and Incident management activities.
  • Triage support tickets and resolve or escalate where necessary.
  • You will be assisting with user support queries.
  • You will be ensuring ITIL service management processes are followed for all incident and change related activities.
  • Maintaining anti-malware status is up to date across the estate, and ensuring new updates are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining infrastructure security through the application of regular system security patching.
  • Managing System Updates, through the deployment of new software releases (as and when available).
  • Managing the deployment of hardware updates and recalls (as and when necessary) to include testing of hardware, commissioning of hardware at new sites.
  • Review site surveys and establish suitability for deployment.
  • Ensuring asset management systems are kept up to date in line with the above activities.


What you will bring:

  • You will have good working knowledge of their technology area.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of associated software engineering tools, techniques, methods within their specialist area.
  • Proven experience of working as a Software Engineer on small or medium sized software engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of conducting unit, link, integration testing and support UAT
  • Prepare implementation, conversion, and cutover plans.
  • Proven experience of Installing systems
  • Creating user documentation.

It would be great if you had:

  • Knowledge of Linux and Red Hat would be great, but not essential, there will be the opportunity to learn.
  • Project management experience
